I think Marshall Macluhan’s phrase “Global Village” means that the entire global population is united despite their different ethnicities, cultures and morals. We all come together and contribute our uniqueness to form a global village.
I used an ipod to represent a global village because part of the idea of global is that we are all globally technologically advanced. I used a recycle symbol with the earth background to represent that part of being a global village means being responsible for our environment and keeping it clean. I used a hand with a globe that showed a village to represent that we have the world in our hands and our actions affect it. I used a road sign with the words global village on it to represent that we are heading towards a global village meaning we strive to create a global village. Lastly, I used hands making a peace sign representing that if we work together we create world peace. As the background I used a picture of a city to represent a village.
The tools I used were the magic wand to eliminate elements of my background that I didn’t want. I used the lasso tool to cut out my pictures. I used text to create my global village message and I changed the opacity to make everything blend.
While making the collage I discovered there are many ways to represent the term “global village” and that the phrase can have different meanings. I experimented with tools and was able to discover new ways to use them. Finally I discovered that it was difficult to make the pictures blend well together.
